Founded by London artist and textile designer Sara Lowes, Animalesque creates unique, handmade animal headdresses and costume accessories rich with colour, texture and character.
These playful yet sophisticated pieces combine the distinctive expression of Sara’s skills in illustration, screen-print and fine embroidery, with her love of exploring narrative through theatre, dance and storytelling.
They are worn by the adventurous, the imaginative, the curious and the wild, and bridge the gap between playthings and wearable pieces of art.
Sara has collected diverse materials and techniques on her various travels, and her creations evolve through a process of continual experimentation. The character of each piece develops as the structure takes shape, brought to life by the quality of the fabrics used, the textural embellishments, the colour, the print and pattern.
Sara lovingly produces her collectible creations in her East London studio, and sells through the Animalesque website shop, as well as working on theatre and fashion commissions.
